POTATO ROAST (URULAIKIZHANGU VARUVAL) MICROWAVE VERSION

I know no one hates potato roast... so this is my version of potato roast...

NEEDS OF INGREDIENTS

Oil - 3 tsp + 1 tsp (for microwave)
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Musturd seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Potatoes - 4
Garlic crushed - 15
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Kulambu chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Curry masala powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - to sprinkle
Fried gram powder (Pottu kadalai)- 1 tsp (sorry for not in picture)




METHOD
  • Chopped potatoes into small pieces and wash them. Add 1 tsp of oil and salt mix well with these potatoes in microwave for 10 min.

  • Heat oil in a kadai and add fennel seeds, musturd seeds till it splutter.

  • Now add crushed garlic and curry leaves and fry them till aroma comes.





  • Add all powders and salt stir for few seconds.

  • Sprinkle little bit of water and keep on low flame for 1 min.



  • Then add baked potatoes and mix well.



  • After some time add 1 tsp of pottu kadalai powder for dryness of potatoes.




  • Mix well and off the flame and serve hot with any rice varieties... its really yummy and spicy...

ARISI PARUPPU SATHAM

Hi all, this time am posting my favorite arisi paruppu satham which is traditional Coimbatore rice... this is our favorite recipe when we were in hostel..... and i learnt this recipe from my aunt (sithi) please try this and tell me...

NEEDS OF INGREDIENTS 

Rice - 1 cup
Thuvar dal - 1/2 cup
Onion chopped - 1/2 cup
Tomato chopped - 2
Garlic - 10 pods
Green chillies - 2
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few leaves
Coriander leaves - for garnishing
Salt - to taste
Ghee - 1 tsp (optional)

SEASONINGS
Oil - 3 tsp
Methi seeds - 1/4 tsp
Musturd seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Hing/asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies - 3



METHOD 

  • First wash rice and dal together and soak in water for 30 min.

  • Heat pressure cooker and add oil and all the seasonings.

  • After seasonings, add chopped onion fry for few seconds 
  • Add garlic, pinch of salt and fry till aroma comes.

  • Then add chopped tomatoes, curry leaves fry till tomatoes become mushy, then add turmeric and sambhar powder and mix well.















  • Then  add rice and dal mixture pour 3.5 cups of water (according to your rice ) and salt to taste.


  • Cover the cooker with lid and put vent wait for  5 whistle comes, after pressure went open lid and garnish with coriander leaves with ghee.

CHOCOLATE CARDAMOM CAKE (NO EGG, NO BUTTER)

Hi all, I already posted eggless and butterless cardamom cake and I din't use coco powder... so this time I prepared chocolate cake with hot chocolate powder and others same only... sorry I dint get baking soda so I couldn't use here... but this cake comes out well... I don't have any decoration items for this cake so I presented ordinary chocolate cake... I hope u like this... awaiting for ur comments guys...



NEEDS OF INGREDIENTS 
Maida (All purpose flour) - 2 cup         
Coco powder - 1/2 cup
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Oil (Vegetable oil) - 3/4 cup
Water - 1 cup
Cardamom - 5(U can use cardamom powder)
Sugar - 1 cup




METHOD 
  • Sieve maida, coco powder, baking powder and salt.
  • Take a bowl, mix oil, water and sugar (blend with cardamom).

  • Mix wet and dry ingredients and make the batter.

  • After preparing the batter pour into the greased baking dish.

  • Pre heat oven at 180 degree C, and Keep the baking tray in oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.

  • Take the cake and cool it for few minutes, cut and serve it hot or cold.

EGG-LESS BUTTER-LESS CARDAMOM FLAVOR CAKE

MY FIRST BAKING
Hi, my first attempt to make cake... am pure vegetarian so am searching egg-less cake... my search result shows Egg less moist chocolate cake (no butter) recipe from YUMMY TUMMY aarthi's blog...but am not having baking soda, coco powder and vanilla essence at this time.. so i planned to put baking powder and cardamom powder instead of vanilla flavor...from this not getting so soft texture but the taste is good... if u try this use baking soda for extra softness... please comment if any improvement or any critics.... 

NEEDS OF INGREDIENTS 

Maida (All purpose flour) - 1 cup
Oil (vegetable oil ) - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3/4 cup 
Cardamom - 5 (blend cardamom seeds(don't use skin) with sugar)
Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp

Cadbury dairy milk - 2

METHOD 

  • Sieve maida, baking powder and salt.
  • Take a bowl, mix oil, water and sugar. Beat it well.

  • Mix flour mixture into the wet ingredients and make the batter.

  • After preparing the batter pour into the greased baking dish.

  • Keep it in oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Melt the diary milk chocolate and get ready for toppings.

  • Take the cake and cool it for few minutes and apply chocolate on top of the cake and garnish with cardamom.


  • serve it hot or cold....

ALOO MUTTER TIKKI/ POTATO PEAS BHONDA

I love potato and green peas... so i plan to cook some appetizers using these and i found this recipe...

NEEDS OF INGREDIENTS

Potato (boiled) - 3
Green peas (boiled)- 1 cup 
Green chilli, finely chopped - 1 tsp
Ginger, finely chopped - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves, chopped - 1  tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch 
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Bengal gram flour - 5 tsp


METHOD 

  • Mash the potato well.
  • Mash peas with hand lightly and add to the potato and mix. 
  • Add green chilli, ginger, coriander leave, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt to taste and mix well.
  • Then take a little of the mixture, make a ball of it. 
  • Heat oil in a pan. 
  • Mix bengal gram flour with water on a bowl.
  • Dip into the bengal gram flour and deep fry until golden brown in color.
  • Serve as evening snack which is delicious.
