Hi friends, Hope all you enjoyed the weekend... And have a wonderful week ahead... Today I posting very simple but all time favorite chutney... Yes! Its coconut chutney but with coriander flavor... Which is very easy and essential chutney in our home....
I learnt this yummy and flavorful chutney from my aunt.
Little about Coconut Chutney
Coconut chutney is a South Indian spicy chutney- side dish and condiment, a specialty common in North Malabar. This is a coconut stew mixed with other spices and served with Idli, Dosa and even with cooked rice... It is made with two methods - Liquid n Solid.
Generally, liquid chutney is served with Idli and dosa whereas the solid one, is served with cooked rice at lunch or dinner called it as coconut thogayal.
Ingredients for making this chutney can vary from region to region. Generally the ingredients are coconut, dried red chillies, shallots and ginger. Other optional ingredients include tamarind, curry leaves, garlic and coriander powder.
INGREDIENTS
Coconut - 1/2 Cup pieces
Green chillies - 4
Garlic pods - 2
Ginger - 1" Piece - 1
Roasted Channa dal (Pottukadalai)
Coriander leaves - few
Salt - To taste
Water - As required
Dry curry Leaves - Few
Mustard seeds - 1 Tsp
Urad dal - 1 Tsp
Oil - 1 Tsp

METHOD
- Add coconut, roasted channa dal, green chilli, garlic, coriander leaves, salt, ginger and garlic in a Mixer grinder grind it once.
- Now add water little by little and grind it to a thick paste. Pour this ground paste to a bowl.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal till it splutters and add dry curry leaves and switch off the flame and pour this into the chutney mixture.
- Serve it with Idli or Dosa....
