INSTANT VEN PONGAL - WITHOUT DAL

Hi friends, here come up with Instant ven pongal without moong dal. Its really very tasty and filling. Temper with ghee and spice will give good aromatic flavor. I prepared sweet pongal (Coming soon), I put more rice so I took some amount cooked rice and did the instant pongal. Good combo with coconut chutney and sambhar.

INGREDIENTS
Cooked raw rice – 2 Cups (I used Ponni raw rice)
Ghee – 1 Tbsp
Cumin seeds – 2 Tsp
Black Peppercorns – 1 ½ Tsp
Hing – ½ Tsp
Curry leaves – Few  
Ginger – 2 Tsp, finely chopped
Salt – To taste



METHOD
  • Heat ghee in pan; add cumin seeds, pepper corns then add hing, wait for sputter.
  • Add curry leaves and ginger sauté it, then add salt and cooked raw rice.
  • Mix it well, till combine everything.
  • Stir it for a minute and switch off the flame.
  • Serve it hot with Coconut Chutney and Sambhar.



NOTE
  • You can add ghee roasted cashew nuts at final.
  • Ginger is optional, but it gives flavor and helps for easy digestion.
  • If your kids won’t like peppercorns, just make coarse powder of the pepper and add it.
