Pillayar
chaturti celebrations are already started can see so many kozhukattai/modak,
ladoo and sundal recipes on my DB. Near
my house, so many cute vinayagar idols are ready to sell for poojas. Even, 32 feet
height of stone vinayagar is also ready for his festival…J
Today, I tried
healthy kozhukattai recipe which is my own and instant idea and thanks to pillayar, he is not
failed me for my attempt… Really, I prayed pillayar before trying the kozhukattai
and it is really come out very well. The taste of the healthy kozhukattai is
good, I can feel the addition of dates, coconut, tit-bits of almonds and all.
Sure, pillayar too love the healthy kozhukattai… J

INGREDIENTS
Dates – 5-6
Almonds – 6
Oats – ¼ Cup
Rava – 3 Tbsp
Water – 1 ½ Cup
Ghee – 2 Tsp
Cardamom powder –
½ Tsp
Jaggery syrup – ¼
Cup + 1 Tbsp (Adjust to your taste)
Coconut, scraped
– 2 Tbsp
Rice flour – ¼ Cup
METHOD
- Soak the deseeded dates and almonds in hot water for 15 minutes.
- Peel the almonds, add in blender with dates with little water and make puree. Keep it aside.
- Boil water with ghee and cardamom powder, when its boiling add oats and rava, cook it well.
- When the mixture gets thicken, add the dates-almond puree, stir it well till thickens.
- Now add jaggery syrup and mix it well and then add scraped coconut, rice flour stir continuously till combined well.
- The mixture should be thick like dough, transfer into greased plate and allow cooling for 15 minutes.
- Now pinch some dough, and make cylindrical shape and press it with fingers as shown in the picture.
- Keep the pidi kozhukattais in the greased idli pan or cloth on the pan. Steam it for 10-15 minutes. Switch off the flame.
- Cool it for 5 minutes and then serve hot…
NOTE
- You can use it as filling also without adding rice flour, to make poornam kozhukkattai.
- If the mixture is too sticky, add more rice flour to get the correct consistency.
