TOMATO CHUTNEY

Hi friends, today I posting chutney varieties, Yes! Now Tomato Chutney, am great fan of tomato recipes... I think most of you love tomatoes Right? It gives unique taste to our taste buds isn't it? 

I learnt this tomato chutney during my Bachelor's Degree from my mom... One day my mom n brother gone to Pondicherry for a wedding... That time me n my dad only stayed in home, I have to go college so I plan to prepare dosa n tomato chutney for breakfast n for lunch box too... Ya! that time I don't know to cook except very few items... n my dad too asked me that "Pappa!! Hotel a irunthu vangitu varava?" n I said no appa, I will make dosa n tomato chutney, n he surprised that am cooking!!!! After I made it he tasted n give good compliment to me... n my friends wont give the lunch box to me... They itself emptied the lunch... he said to my mom, "enponnu supera samakithu"...


Ok!! my dear friends lets move on to the recipe, if you enjoyed my write ups am so happy and thanks for your patience, if I bored you thru' this, I apologize, you too try this n let me know...


INGREDIENTS
Oil- 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Dry red chillies - 5
Shallots - 10-15 if its big
Tomatoes ripe - 7
Curry leaves - 1 stick
Tamarind - small amla size
Hing - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - 2-4 tsp



METHOD

  • Heat oil in a pan, add channa dal and dry red chillies wait for browning dals.














  • Then add shallots with hing and fry well till transparent.















  • Now add curry leaves and tamarind fry for few minutes.



  • Now add tomatoes with salt and fry well till it cooked well and switch off the flame and cool it.



















  • Grind it like fine paste with few tsp of water and transfer into a bowl.






















  • Now heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and urad dal wait it for splutter and pour into the chutney bowl.




SERVE IT WITH IDLI/DOSA/CHAPATHI

  5. tangy n yummy chutney, great combo with idly/dosa...next time try adding 2-3 coconut pieces in the end n grind...u just love it!!
